The reverse of this medallion commemorates the surrender of the French forces in Egypt, and it features Major General Hutchinson, on the right, dressed in decorated English military uniform. On the left, the Bey, or governor, of Egypt who is dressed in Ottoman military uniform. The Bey holds his saddled horse in one arm and in the other he reviews a treaty with Hutchinson. Pyramids and ships lay in the background. Above the scene there is the inscription “EGYPT DELIVERED” and, in exergue, there are the inscriptions “SEPT II MDCCCI” “DUPRES F” and “MUDIE D.”
